Health Care FSA

How much should I elect?

Before making an election, you must determine if you are eligible to participate in a Health Care FSA.

It’s very important to make a knowledgeable decision about the amount that you set aside into a Health Care FSA. Things to consider:

  • What’s my plan year?
You only want to set aside dollars you know that you will spend within your plan year. Contact your benefits department to find out when your plan year is.

  • What are my expenses?
Figure out if you will be having any dental work done. Do you want to get an extra pair of glasses? Will you use more than your allotted visits of chiropractic or acupuncture? Do you take regular prescriptions?

  • Do my spouse and kids have expenses?
You can set aside dollars for your eligible tax dependents to pay your spouse and children’s medical expenses too, regardless of if they’re covered on your medical plan.
